About The Quilt Corner
Friendships develop throughout your life, over time. Childhood friendships and relationships created during adolescences seem to fade as you and you old chums grow up and grow apart. As the stresses and constant strain of day to day life make it more difficult to make time for your friends, it also makes it even harder to make new friends. Statistics show that the older you get the more unlikely it is for new friendships to develop and if one does in fact develop its more of an acquaintance than a friendship. But our friendship is one of the rarest of them all. Have you ever met a person and instantly felt like you had known them your entire life? Well, that is where our story begins.
Sandra and Mynan’s friendship began in 2004 where they met through the love of quilting. Because of their shared interest, they later developed a business partnership in 2005. Their passion for their art of quilting inspired them to not only expand the types of fabric, but also in expanding the space of the original store. The store and conjoining studio, also known as the Educational & Event Center, together exceed over 4000 square feet which allows for plenty of room for classes, workshops and for quilters to spread out and share their treasures. The shop’s name “The Quilt Corner” was due to the shop occupying the corner space of the building that is shared with a few other businesses. The bond of Sandra and Mynan’s friendship/partnership also inspired the shop’s motto “Where you heart comes home to quilt.”
Sandra Guilbeau and Mynan Guidry, both former educators, have more in common than most. They are both left handed, love to read the same genre of books, watch the same type of TV shows (forensics and mysteries), both have a love of sewing and fabrics (from a very young age), and are both “people” people. With Sandra’s masters degree in ‘administration and supervision’, Mynan’s degree in ‘home economics’, and all of their common interests, made for a business partnership that was constructed in heaven. Owning and running a quilt shop not only enhances their interests in sewing, fabric and education; but it also provides them with lasting a friendship that feels more like family.
Many relationships have been formed here at The Quilt Corner over the years; customer relationships that have turned into close friendships. It is because of our customers that we are where we are today. As a matter of fact, we do not refer to them as “customers”, yet as “friends who make purchases”. We hold our friends in high esteem and value. Our gratitude extends far beyond words. We consider ourselves blessed to have made such warm, caring, lasting relationships.
We offer a variety of fabrics at the Quilt Corner, regardless of your taste. From Civil War aficionados to bright, bold, batiks, flannels, novelty fabrics for children and adults, and a wide variety of blends. Our friendly staff is always glad to help you start a new project or find just the right piece to finish an existing one. Come and be a part of the Quilt Corner family! See you soon!
